May 2008 meeting

PHP users and developers of all levels from the Sydney region are invited to the May 2008 meeting

This month we have two great presentations, one an introductory look at SMS handling with PHP, the other will dip your toes into feature based web development using Bazaar, a distributed revision control system

Meetings are free, held every first Thursday of the month at CodeGear offices, Sydney and are open to anyone with an interest in Web Development.

Date

May 1st 2008 at 6.30pm.

Agenda

6:30 - 6:40 - Introductions and Announcements

6:40 - 7:15 - SMS handling with PHP - Damien McGuire & Adam Dukes
Handling SMS in PHP may sound complicated, but it’s actually pretty straightforward. We discuss sending SMS using an HTTP API along with the low level communication functions being used.
Level: Beginner

7:15 - 7:30 - Break: Pizza and drinks kindly provided by CodeGear

7:30 - 8:30 - Feature based web development with Bazaar - James Ellis
How is the code developed by your organisation managed and provisioned? Do you still use FTP to update your web apps? Can it be done in a more coherent way that benefits your developers, organisation and your customers? You bet! James will show the ins and outs of developing features rather than file changes - and managing the testing and provision of those features so that you stay in control of your web application.
Level: Medium

(Please note that presentation times are estimates only - length of presentations may vary)

Location

CodeGear offices (look for the Borland sign)
Level 12

Do you want to present?

Why come to a meeting?

Meetings are a great place to network and meet other developers in the Sydney region, possibly find development work and discuss tips and tricks in PHP development face to face with your peers.
